Hariksha Trust Activities

Medical Assistance

The children are provided with needed medical assistance for their epileptic problems, appropriate medical treatment for their seasonable medical ailments. Apart from this the children are provided with the needed assistive devices (caliper, crutches, special shoes, splint) and equipments (ie., parallel bar, corner chair, wheel chair, walker, etc) to achieve their mobility. Periodical medical camp to asses their general health status by general physician, Dental Camp to treat the dental complaints, Eye camp to assess the eyesight.
We support (116) physician visit for various sickness, needed appropriate treatment provided to the children. In May and August the general medical camp collaboration

Achievement and Participation

The impossible can always be broken down into possibilities The children Kalaiselvi and Abishekapriyan are participated the drawing competition conducted by Imagine India (NGO) on 15th of August. The children executed their talents, Kalaiselvi drawn peacock, Abisheka Priyan drawn water melon by using finger prints techniques. Our children participated along with the normal school children to integrate our children along with normal children; our children got special prizes and participation and winner certificates. Career Training

To bring out the inborn talents and growing talents we are conducting crafts and art training to gain two in one results. This session is useful to find the art and creative talents of the children and simultaneously we try to utilize this session as an initial vocational training session.The vocational training session teaches our children to make craft materials, they made beautiful wall hangers and flower pots. The elderly children are trained to make beautiful wall hangers using the ice sticks and flower vase using the mud pots.The mud pots colored with paint and the artificial stones / (chumki) were fixed.

Day to Day Activities

Every day morning the children with special needs are picked up from their door step and dropped in the evening.The children are provided with biscuit in the morning break session. Balanced nutritious tasty mid time food is supplied to the children, Egg is provided to the children every week. The children are provided with two sets of stitched uniforms, 17th February 2009 District Disable Rehabilitation Officer provided the Uniforms and Slippers to the Children with special needs.

 

The needed necessary timely appropriate medical attention provided to the children on time. From December 2009 12 children with Mal Nutrition complaints, are provided with the supplementary health drinks and supplementary food materials to compensate the health issues. The children’s birthday is celebrated in our Learning Center to give them a happy atmosphere. We are celebrating the common community festivals in our Learning Center. The children are taken to the picnic / tourist place to give them exposure. We are insisting the parents to obtain the Identity Card from DDR Office to avail the benefits offer by the Government.

Special Medical Camps

Dr. Malliga, Siddha Medical Practitioner, Primary Health Center, Avalurpet Conducted the Siddha medical camp on 19thJuly 2010. All the children of our Learning center are got benefitted and provided with the needed medicaments.

 

Dr. Mahalakshmi, Siddha Practitioner, Government Hospital, Avalurpet conducted the Siddha Medical camp on 2ndMarch 2011. All the children of our Learning center are got benefitted and provided with the needed medicaments.

District wise Special Olympics

The district wise Special Olympics for differently abled children conducted in Kamarajar Higher Secondary School, Villupuram on 12thMarch 2011. The events are organized by the Chennai NGO, Anbalaya collaboration with DDAW Office, V illupuram. 10 children from our Learning Center participated in the events and won prizes,.

 

Vazhndhu Kattuvom

Vazhndhu Kattuvom scheme successfully achieving the Livelihood Promotion,

 

Economic Empowerment, Developing and strengthening pro poor local group, Building Skills and Capacities of the poor through various trainings. The new innovative idea of training local group to address the differently abled issues through the training is excellent ideas to stimulate them find out solutions. After the training every one will be thorough about the Differently Abled issues which help the differently abled rehabilitation. We got opportunity to train the Community Differently Abled Facilitators, collaboration with Vazhndhu Kattuvom Scheme. Through our 11 days Foundation Training programs 09.11.10 to 19.11.10 - 27 Persons 04.01.11 to 14.01.11 - 16 Persons are trained with information. Through Multiple Rehabilitation Techniques Trainings 19.04.2010 to 19.05.2011 – 34 persons, 09.06.10 to 08.07.10 - 27 Persons, 21.02.11 to 24.03.11 - 36 persons are trained by the qualified trainers. Apart from this 12 SDF are trained 17.07.10 to 19.07.10 with various information.

Festivals / Celebrations

27th September we have celebrated the Ayudha Pooja in our Learning Center. To motivate the staff team members the staffs are provided with dress materials as a compliment on the day of Ayudha Pooja. We have celebrated the Diwali festival in our Learning Center along with the children on 15th of October month. The children and all the staff are participated in this celebration, we purchased crackers (sparklers, flower pots and ground chakras). All the children enjoyed the colorful light festival with full of joy. All the children (even profound children) enjoyed the lights of the sparklers and sound of the crackers.

The children are provided with cakes. All the children enjoyed the celebration with enthusiasm.


The annual observance of the International Day of Differently abled Persons, 3 December, aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. The theme of the Day is based on the goal of full and equal enjoyment of human rights and participation in society by persons with disabilities, established by the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons, adopted by the General Assembly in 1982. To promote the idea we celebrated the world Disable Day in our Learning Center on 3rd of December. We bought cake and celebrated the Disable day with our Learning Center children and all the staff.


The harvest festival “Pongal” is celebrated by all the people, particularly in villages the Pongal festival is an important festival. The festival celebrated in our center with great joy happiness. The house is decorated with colorful Rangoli. New pot and sugarcane brought and the new rice used to prepare the Jaggery Pongal. The children are worshipped as they wish and they are provided with the special food menu.
